Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan today took part in the evening of honoring the legendary Armenian football team Ararat-73. During the evening, organized in honor of the 40th anniversary of the glorious victory of the team, which in 1973 won the titles of the champion of the USSR and the owner of the USSR Cup in 1973, the President of the Republic awarded the veterans of the Ararat football club in Yerevan with high state awards, awarded them honorary titles for significant contribution to the development of Armenian football and achieved brilliant achievements.
Serzh Sargsyan congratulated the awardees, emphasizing in his welcoming speech that Ararat is one of the greatest achievements of our people not only in 1973, but also in the 70s in general. “The glorious victories of Ararat are considered by our people not only as a victory won on a green field, but also as a statement of its collective qualities. Ararat was our pride, a national treasure. Of course, Ararat not only played football, the guys played football, but it was also politics. As we all know, unfortunately, in the Soviet years, Armenia could not fully represent itself on international platforms, and Ararat, with its football victories, brought Armenia to the international arena, made Armenia and Armenians more recognizable. The victories of Ararat, the double successes of Ararat, I always compare with the great feat that Tigran Petrosyan accomplished. Having become the world champion, Tigran Petrosyan taught every Armenian family to play chess, or at least to love chess, the same for the guys. And the game of our today's team is also the result of the victories of "Ararat" of that time. "Ararat" brought inspiration to Armenia, the Armenian people, and every Armenian, wherever he lived, in Armenia or abroad, felt very proud.

Honoring Ararat 73 at Republic Square and Hrazdan Stadium
On October 6, 2013, an event dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the glorious victories of the legendary "Ararat 73" in the USSR Championship and the Cup of the country started at the capital's Republic Square in Yerevan on October 6, 2013. A decorated bus was waiting for the players on the Republic Square, on which they made a symbolic circle and drove around the capital. After that, the legendary football players went to the Hrazdan stadium. Almost the entire team is in Armenia. Due to health problems, Arkady Andreasyan was absent, and Nikita Simonyan will arrive on October 9th.

The opening ceremony was attended by members of Zanazanyan's family, FFA President Ruben Hayrapetyan, shareholders of FC Banants Oleg Mkrtchan and Jevan Cheloyants, Zanazanyan's Ararat-73 teammates Sergey Poghosyan, Eduard Markarov, Alyosha Abrahamyan.

A MATCH IN HONOR OF THE 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF ARMENIAN FOOTBALL LEGEND EDUARD MARKAROV WAS HELD AT THE REPUBLICAN STADIUM IN YEREVAN. IT WAS ORGANIZED BY THE UNION OF VETERANS OF RUSSIA.
It was a game played by Eduard Markarov's friends, wonderful masters of his generation. The players took to the field in T-shirts with the inscription "Markarov 70". The hero of the day appeared accompanied by children and grandchildren, and a song dedicated to him sounded at the stadium. The Russian team was represented by Valery Novikov, Sergey Gorlukovich, Yuri Kovtun, Fedor Cherenkov, Sergey Kiryakov, Alexander Mirzoyan, Dmitry Kuznetsov, Valery Shmarov, Albert Sarkisyan, Boris Pozdnyakov. From the Armenians, of course, came the golden composition of Ararat, the same one that won the Cups and the USSR championship. Plus those who shone in it in subsequent years. Georgy Cherdantsev commented on the meeting. He had something to comment on: a kind of nostalgic football - feints, smart passes ... A real celebration of football! And, of course, naked. There were already 14 of them. Markarov also scored his goal. He played under his usual number 9, and for the Russians under the same number he played son.
On May 5, on the eve of Victory Day, national football veterans laid a wreath and flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden. The traditional event organized by the RFU was attended by legendary Russian football players, widows of famous players of the past, as well as RFU President Vitaly Mutko and RFU General Director Alexander Alaev.
The memory of the soldiers was honored by Nikita Simonyan, Eduard Markarov, Alexei Paramonov, Anatoly Isaev, Alexander Mirzoyan, Boris Kopeikin, Vladimir Salkov, Anzor Kavazashvili, Vladimir Ponomarev, Grigory Yanets, Alexander Averyanov, Valery Reingold, Vyacheslav Varyushin and other honored veterans. In addition, the widows of famous players came to pay tribute to the fallen - Zoya Bubukina, Olga Ivakina, Lyubov Khusainova, Elena Bobrova, Olga Maslachenko and others.
